The antidote to the current toxic social media landscape, with authentic content meant to recycle positivity.
Veteran NFL defensive end Carl Nassib was blessed with a number of amazing volunteer opportunities throughout his career. Once while in Tampa Bay, Carl and his teammates volunteered as mentors at a nearby juvenile detention center. These kids just needed friends—people that could keep them motivated and optimistic. So, for a couple of hours each week, Carl and his teammates drove one mile from their practice facility to the detention center, to be those friends and motivators. Something didn’t feel right.
Just one mile is what separated Carl and his teammates from this amazing opportunity to give back, and make a difference. Yet this unique volunteer opportunity, like many others, felt completely hidden from the general public. Those kids that needed a friend, suddenly felt invisible. Why was this happening? Somebody needed to shed light on this.
Carl’s goal with Rayze was to do exactly that: to create a platform that would shine a light on opportunities that need volunteers, while making nonprofit engagement, volunteer recruitment, and donating as simple and intuitive as possible.
We believe in putting character over clout and strive to be a catalyst for a turning point in social media culture.
Younger generations want to help out, and they want to give back—they just need a way to do it. Carl saw this as a technological gap, and a huge opportunity.
After all, these generations barely carry cash and rarely write checks. Which is exactly why Rayze also allows users to donate to organizations right there on the app, seamlessly integrating this act of kindness into everyday lives.
Over time, Carl’s vision for Rayze expanded. As a professional athlete, he was frequently faced with an onslaught of negativity and toxicity on social media, and if he paid attention to it, he could sense just how much it could affect him. Before long, this conversation of the impact of social media on our mental well-beings had gone mainstream.
But, like many issues in our society, nothing’s really changed, or at least it has not changed fast enough. So while we’re busy connecting volunteers to nonprofits and processing both one-time and recurring donations, we’re also working to change the narrative and culture that surrounds social media.
Rayze combats the seemingly endless amount of negativity seen across our digital world by building a space with a strict positive vibes-only policy. A place where we all chase character over clout and create & consume inspiring content.
